As you may have seen from my last post (previously on On/Off Switch etc etc), I’m having a headlong, feet in entanglement with using my musical and brand chops to bear on bringing sound to society. How so?
Well, Imagine a city. One you love. New York, Milan, or perhaps somewhere in Japan (© Right Said Fred) What about that place made you happy? Was it the food, the architecture, the people? Close your eyes. How did it sound?
Each city has its own sonic imprint: horns blaring, water rushing, children playing.
Now, imagine that city again, coming alive with fresh sound - sonics and music as essential as signposts and important as traffic lights, meshing with the environment and culture. That’s the aim. Marrying sonic creativity with deep branding expertise to craft targeted, dynamic soundscapes that enhance urban life and reduce stress.
No tinkering around the edges; a paradigm shift in how we experience our surroundings. Be it targeted, calming soundscapes to aid mental well-being or aural wayfinding for the visually impaired there are hundreds of ways we can use sound and music to make life better. Easier. More fun.
There have already been trials and uses of this sort of thing in Australia and Japan, but it’s a new area - and one where modern tech can legitimately enhance people’s lives - if used correctly…
And this is key: it’s ultra, super, mega important that it’s done right. So that means talking to people. A lot.
As you’ve seen, I’m running a pilot of this soon but in the meantime, I want to know what YOU think via a series of exciting polls below. This is just a little bit of a benchmark test. Toe in the water stuff.
Let me know what you think below. A couple of minutes, tops. But you could be helping change the world for the better. In 90 seconds.
Thanks! If you’ve got any thoughts or questions following all that then do leave a comment. Happy to discuss.
Finally, I’m still hunting for key members of my A-Team level Focus Group for my pilot scheme. Interested? I’ve got a raft of personas in my previous post (scroll to the bottom). Sound like you or someone you know? Send me a message! You could change the world a bit.
You can tell me all about it at the weekend.
